Gujarati Language and its Relation with other Subjects

"In the time of lockdown, what kind of activities to be done that children of 1 to 5 std. can practice language subjects at home and through that other subjects gets impacted? Teacher RaghavKatkiya started the discussion with importance of educational environment at home. So he has explained below mentioned activities to be done by teachers for students and material generation. He stressed upon story telling activity. He said that it is very di?cult to catch attention of students who are in 1 to 5 std. So teacher has to focus on story telling, TLM making according to interest of their children in the class. And with the help of Mobile teacher can send some small videos in the group of parent and students. In language subject, listening plays the main part. So if teacher can record some stories and send in the phone students like to listen that, even some small poems and rhymes will also help in developing listening skills at home. When students listen this, they also speak it so they do remember things easily through this. This activity helps in school also. He has also mentioned some activities that he is practicing in his school and which are successful too. Like he focused on some activities, in which students gets involved and learn through fun. If we are teaching  them alphabets then there are 2-3 type of activities that he has mentioned are writing on the sand with ?ngers, showing some pictures starting with that alphabet, asking them to ?ll colors in the prints of alphabets etc. this type of activities can be done at home also with the help of Parents. He said that revision of this type of activities is also important. Revision helps a lot in remembering things. He has also talked about language issue in the classroom; as students are speaking their regional language on the other side textbooks and medium of instructions are in pure Gujarati language. In these type of situation teacher has to cooperate with students and try to learn their regional language too. In classroom when student speaks some words of local language then teacher need to explain the proper Gujarati word and incorporate some activities that which can help in di?erentiating words and their explanations. Sanket has mentioned that one teacher from school of Banaskatha used to write local word and proper Gujarati words with the meaning on the notice board so students who pass by there can read it and get and understand. Razakbhai then shared his experience. He said that Gujarati is mother tongue of students so what can be the way to introduce to students to Gujarati language. Teacher can start with Stories, Poem and short quotes. KhodajiThakor from the viewer has asked one question that Students use some words, which are spoken by their parent or grandparent at home. So this at that time how to take this situation, what can be reaction of teacher? Razakbhai replied that in such situation one activity can be done that ask students to gather some words which are local and only used at home. Then such word with explanation will be written on board with the name of student for 1 week and we will appreciate such practices of students in the class and in prayer meet. Then students will become more curious in ?nding such words and its explanations. And they can learn new words from each other. Then GaralaNirali has explained the linkage of Gujarati language with other subjects. She is teaching Social studies in 6 to 8 std. She shared that in social studies there are many historical words and compound consonants are used. So if students are good at it then only they will be able to understand the history subject and its events properly. Sanket asked what can be other activities that teacher can follow when schools are closed and all students are at home. RaghavKatakiya mentioned that teacher can record their Audio or Video of stories/poem/activities and send in WhatsApp group. Some activities according to age of children can also be given to students with sort description of process and material required so students can do it at Home.
